Welcome to the family Kyle.
Tuesday November 21st 8:02am our little Kyle arrived strong and healthy as can be. 8 pounds 6 ounces, 20 1/4 inches long. He's perfect, just like his brother.
Weeks prior to the delivery of our second son, contractions started agonizing my life and made it unbearable to do anything. I had been dilated 2cm for weeks and finally had made the decision to schedule an inducement for the day after Thanksgiving. Well, I didn't make it to the inducement date because real labour finally arrived early morning two days prior to the holiday. I was 39 weeks and 6 days and more than ready to have my little one. My first child sent my straight into hard labour the night prior to his due date and stayed that way every 2 minutes for 16 hours. This time around things were a lot different.
I woke up to some pretty intense contractions at 1:30am Tuesday morning and sat alone while my husband and son slept. I wasn't sure if the real deal was about to happen due to having pretty harsh contractions for days prior but after about an hour of consistent 5 minute apart contractions it was time. I walked into our bedroom to wake my husband but he didn't really move until I got a bit aggressive and said "Honey, we have to go!" We still had to wait a bit for my mom to come and watch our son so we could rush to the hospital. After she arrived about 15 minutes later, we grabbed our bags and ran out the door. The pain was killer every 3 minutes now and I couldn't talk or focus on anything at this point.
We arrived to the hospital at 3:30am and they knew I was ready to go, no triage, they sent me straight to the labour room. Already 7cm dilated and begging to push; the doctor was on call so we had to wait for her arrival. At this point I did opt for an epidural because I had no idea how long we would be waiting. Finally some relief! We got a couple hours to just relax and get some sleep. The doctor had finally arrived around 7:30am and broke my water. I could feel my contractions getting really strong and was getting the urge to push; which Im thinking now I didn't have a continuous epidural because the pain was getting intense again at this point and I could lift my legs on my own. Now 7:50am rolled around, I was 10cm and ready to go. Yelling that I had to push now, only a few pushes and Kyle was here. In the midst of the excitement of our new baby arriving, I did tear a bit and felt everyone of those 5 horrible stitches; grateful it was minimal compared to my first birth experience (40 stitches).
8:02am the most beautiful baby boy arrived. Our Kyle Vincent was absolutely perfect in everyway. I felt the exact way I did after giving birth to our first, Luke. Love at first sight, tears were rolling. He was calm as can be the second they laid him on my chest and I just loved on him. There are no words to describe the feelings a mother experiences holding her child for the first time. Just pure love and joy. What a blessing, a reflection of Gods greatest creation. I am so grateful and thankful for everything. You are so loved Kyle Vincent and the greatest gift we could ever ask for.
